MODRIC FUTURE ON HOLD

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has said that he will discuss his future with the club following the end of the Euro 2012. Croatian midfielder Luka Modric will be playing in the tournament hoping to perform much better than he did in Euro 2008. Croatia were the surprise package qualifying for the Euro 2008, but that is certainly no surprise bought them qualifying for the Euro 2012. This is due to the presence of many stars like Luka Modric, who are expected to play for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona next season. Modric came extremely close to sealing a move to Chelsea in the last summer only for Tottenham to prevent it.

Even though he has signed a new contract with Tottenham worth around £ 70,000 per week, he is expected to provide a transfer request to the club due to the fact that there will be no Champions League football next season. Modric has said that the taste of Champions League football, which he experienced a few seasons ago with Tottenham, is simply great to not avoid it. Modric is expected to depart the club in the summer, while he is set to be followed by another star in the form of Gareth Bale.

“I will decide about my future after the Euros. I will make the decision where to continue my career. I’m ready for the big tests,” Modric said following the end of the Premier league season. It is expected that Chelsea will not be one of the clubs interested in him due to the fact that he is now 27 years of age. Chelsea were looking at the possibility of signing him when he was just 26 years old, which would have meant at least five years of peak football for them.
