London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea still retain an interest in Croatia international JoskoGvardiol. This is according to Italian journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The media practitioner made this known in a chat with GiveMeSport. Romano said Spurs and Chelsea are interested in the Croatia defender, but it would take a massive offer for RB Leipzig to consider selling him this summer.

Gvardiol is super appreciated by both Chelsea and Spurs, but German club RB Leipzig don’t want to sell him this summer. To this effect, the transfer is a difficult one and it would only take a crazy offer to change their stance. The Croatia international was seriously linked with the aforementioned Premier League duo at the start of this summer’s transfer window with the two teams keen to strengthen theirdefence. Tottenham Hotspur have since opted for a loan move for French defender Christian Lenglet, while Chelsea have their attention on Dutch international defender Nathan Ake of Manchester City after they were rejected by Juventus centre back Matthijs de Ligt who wants a move to German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig star Gvardiol has spent just one season at the German club following his move last summer. Gvardiol was an important player in his debut season at RB Leipzig under the managerial guidance of American Jesse Marsch and then Domenico Tedesco. Marsch started the season as manager before he was sacked on the back of a run of poor league results and then replaced by Tedesco.Marsch has since been named the Leeds United manager and he was instrumental to the Lilywhites staying in the Premier League at the end of last season. He spent the last three months of the season as the Leeds United manager.

Croatia defender Gvardiol scored twice in 45 games in all competitions for RB Leipzig in his first season at the club. He helped his team keep 14 clean sheets from those games.
