Croatia international Nikola Vlasic was named in the starting XI for the FA Cup third round clash between his West Ham United side and Leeds United. West Ham United played hosts to the Whites at the London Stadium with a place in the fourth round up for grabs. Croatia national team star Vlasic started the game on the left side of the attacking midfield trio behind central striker Michail Antonio. The other two attacking midfielders were Argentine player Manuel Lanzini and Englishman Jarrod Bowen.

The FA Cup third round clash between West Ham United and Leeds United was an even contest until the hosts took the lead through the aforementioned Lanzini in the 34th minute. He capitalised on uncertain defending in the Leeds United ranks to give his team the lead. His goal was enough to give the Hammers a slender lead at the interval. New Premier League moneybags Newcastle United have been handed a major transfer blow in their pursuit of Croatia international Marcelo Brozovic who plays his club football for Italian champions Inter Milan. Newcastle United are keen to bolster their squad in the winter transfer window and Croatia international Brozovic has emerged as a target for the club with reports claiming that Newcastle United are prepared to pay the Croatia star around£100,000 on a weekly basis if he agrees to join them.

Newcastle United have a new spending power following their £300m takeover by Public Investment Funds (PIF) from Saudi Arabia in October. Since the takeover, the Magpies have been on the trail of 29-year-old Brozovic who has been a transfer target for both Chelsea and Manchester United. The Inter Milan player was strongly linked with a move away from the San Siro in the summer, but he decided to stay for this season. Croatia international Mateo Kovacic was a major absentee as Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premier League log to three points. Chelsea were able to increase their advantage at the summit thanks to the 3-0 win over struggling Newcastle United. Croatia midfielder Kovacic missed the game with an hamstring problem.

Reigning World Cup finalists Croatia have maintained their place at the top of Group H in the European region of Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following their emphatic performance at the home of Cyprus. In their latest World Cup qualifier in Larnaca, Cyprus, Croatia were dominant and they could have won more goals. The Croatians would have recorded more than the 3-0 win if they were more clinical in front of goal.

Inter Milan have dropped to second place on the Italian Serie A table despite beating hosts Hellas Verona to make it two straight wins at the start of the season. The defending champions dropped to second place after Lazio thrashed Spezia 6-1 at home though the visitors had to play a big part of the game with ten men. Spezia played the final 36 minutes with a numerical disadvantage.
Hellas Verona gave Inter Milan a lot of problems especially in the first half before the champions overpowered their hosts in the second half thanks in part to the quality shown by new signing Joaquin Correa on his debut for the Nerazzuri. New Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has been filmed saying his final goodbyes to his teammates at Real Madrid as he is expected to travel to E gland this week to complete his medicals and sign on the dotted lines. The France international defender agreed terms with the Red Devils to sign for them this summer as he wishes to try a new challenge in his career after spending up to a decade at the Santiago Bernabeu since joining them French Ligue 1 club Lens back in the summer transfer window of the year 2011. Madrid were not the only club that wanted to sign Varane in 2011 as the hefty center-back was also followed by Sir Alex Ferguson when he was still at United.

The Red Devils could not move quickly to complete a deal for Varane back then and he joined Real Madrid as a result. He enjoyed a lot of title triumphs and success at Real Madrid and after winning everything in his career, including the FIFA World Cup title with France back in 2018, he finally decided to join Manchester United – a club he supported while growing up as a kid. Croatia earned their first point at the Euro 2020 tournament after coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against leaders Czech Republic in Group D. They had to get something out of the game against the Czechs after losing their first match in the group against the Three Lions of England.

England met Croatia in the opening game in the group at the Wembley Stadium at the weekend with the Three Lions running out winners by the odd goal.Croatia lost the game 1-0 thanks to the strike from Raheem Sterling in the second half. The result meant that the 2018 World Cup finalistsneed to get something out of the game against Czech Republic ahead of their final group game with Scotland and they did just that. Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has insisted that he remains focused with the team and is still as hungry as ever to win more titles with the Spanish La Liga giants. The Croatia international midfielder was linked with an exit away from the Los Blancos at the end of last season, with reports claiming that Madrid president Florentino Perez was keen to offload the former Tottenham Hotspur star because he was already past 35 years of age.

Croatia player Mateo Kovacic won’t be available for the second leg of the Champions League last four tie with former club Real Madrid after failing to recover from the hamstring problem that has plagued him for several weeks.

AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli will be a happy man after his side were successful in their bid to overturn the suspension handed to the club’s Croatian winger Ante Rebic. The forward was initially handed a two-game ban as punishment after he received a red card in the defeat to Napoli some weeks ago, but he will be ready for their next match after his suspension was reduced.
